The Department of Chemistry was started along with the commencement of the college in 1964. Since Chemistry remains a compulsory subject in both Mathematics group and Biology group except for those who choose Computer Science, it has the largest number of students in Science stream. Considering the demand for PG programme in Chemistry, the Janbhagidari Samiti and the College Administration took the initiative and started M. Sc. Chemistry in the year 2012 and has been running it successfully as a Self-Financing Course since then. Presently the Department has Dr. Aruna Solanki as regular faculty heading the department and two guest faculties, a lab technician and a lab attendant. The department of Chemistry has a well-equipped laboratory and it is under further expansion. The department has a departmental library with books.
