The Department of Economics started in 1971. Apart from offering Economics as an optional subject at UG level, the department is also running MA in Economics. It has good student strength both at UG and PG levels. The Department of Economics is one of the best staffed departments with four regular faculties. The department has been organizing a good number of seminars, workshops etc. in contemporary and relevant topics useful for students. The department uses ICT-enabled methods of teaching. It has a Departmental library with about 300 books including text books and reference books of PG level.
