The Department of History is as old as the college itself. Though initially the department could not attract many students, now the department has 700 students with an average enrolment of 300 students every year. However, the students passing out with History as a subject at B. A. level has presently no opportunity to do PG in the subject. Considering this shortcoming the College Administration, with the approval of Janbhagidari Samiti, has already sent a proposal to the Department of Higher Education to start PG in History. Faculty of the department Dr. B.K. Tyagi has completed two Minor Research Projects from UGC, and has published two books viz., India’s Approach to the Tibetan Question and its Impact on Sino-Indian Relations, and India and The Central Asia: Past, Present and Future An Historical and Socio-Economic Study.
