The Computer department of the college started in 2002-03 when Computer Science and Computer Application were offered as self-financing optional subjects with B. Sc. Mathematics group and B. Com respectively. Ever since its beginning, it has been attracting a good number of students. Later Computer Application as an optional subject was also introduced at B. A. level in 2011-12. BCA programme was introduced in the year 2012-13 and M. Sc. Computer Science in 2015-16. Each of these courses and programmes has separate and qualified faculties. Presently the department has seven faculties and two lab attendants, appointed by Janbhagidari Samiti since all programmes and subjects run by the department are self-financing ones. The department has two Computer Laboratories for UG and PG programmes. The Computer library has books. A good number of alumni of the department are employed at different places making their career in computer field.

In order to provide more opportunities for employment to science graduates the college started BCA from the academic year 2012-13 as a self-financing programme. The programme attracts good number of students since it is a job-oriented one.
